HISTORY

Founded in 2008, Mooney Studios is an independent game developer with a studio in Phoenix, Arizona. Prior to founding Mooney Studios, CEO/Owner Kyle Mooney spent years designing, or attempting, to design games, mods, with friends and peers. Needless to say Mooney Studios was primarily founded with enthusiastic, creativity, and a strong work ethic to not just talk the talk. Mooney Studios first title which is in production is Monster Slayer.

ABOUT CEO/President

Kyle Mooney was one of the first students to obtain a degree in Video Game Art and Design from the Art Institute of Phoenix. Originally Kyle dreamed of becoming a comic book artist, and realized the potential of games early on in his schooling. “Why draw and read about the hero, when you could be the hero.”

For years Kyle had tried working with peers and other creating all types of games. Everything from Star Wars Galaxy mods, side scrolling MMOs even casino puzzle games. Needless to say those games never came to light.

Kyle had been developing his own games since his times in college, but working as a janitor, call center clerk, graphic designer, manager, over the years made game making a hobby, let alone a career. So an Entrepreneur by nature, Kyle struck out on his own and with that established Mooney Studios.

PRODUCTION

Working closely with the XNA Studios, and Microsoft’s Visual Studios Express programs Mooney Studios is primarily developing for the XBOX Live Arcade customer base. Mooney Studios remains completely independent which allows for a more open structure when developing our games. As an independent studio, we create and develop the kind of games that we’d like to play, instead of developing movie licenses, corporate carbon copies of similar titles, and well, games we just wouldn’t bother playing. It also means we follow our own production plan that allows us to stagger development so that we have smaller teams, time to visualize a game in pre-production and longer timelines to add final polish.
